Thank You

Last night was the most incredible show I've ever been a part of. I don't know if I will ever have the opportunity to do another show like that, and it is something I will remember until the day I die. If I never play another show, I would be totally okay with that being what I'm remembered for. (Instead, I'm going to play a show with DMX tomorrow for a couple thousand screaming zombies. Whatever.) It was amazing to see people from every background come together for one event, and to see everyone supporting the music, our community, and the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance. Last night alone, we raised over $1,000 for MOCA. Hopefully there will be much more to come.

The other thing that really blew me away about last night was how smoothly everything ran. We had a fourteen piece band, playing songs that we had only rehearsed a couple times (or none in the case of the string players), and it went off without a hitch. We played better than we ever had in rehearsal, haha. We got a full soundcheck and the sound on stage and in the house was amazing. Every set started exactly on time. Every act played brilliant sets. People actually came to the show. People bought merch. We got an amazing, impromptu introduction from Guante. There was a dope green room with enough booze for 15 people. And all of this happened on a weeknight.
If you've ever thrown a show before, you know that these things simply don't happen.

If you weren't able to make it to the show, I'm sorry, that sucks for you. On the bright side, the whole night was filmed and will be available online soon.
In the mean time, you can buy the album here or donate to MOCA here.

There are soooo many people that I need to thank for making last night a reality. I'm going to attempt to remember all of them:

The band: Graham O'Brien, Andrew Foreman, Chris Tures, Joe Adrian, Eric Blomquist, Joe Strachan, Kay Stresman, Lizzo, Claire, Krysta, Mike Ries, Colleen Berstch, Jesse Peterson, Cory Grossman.
You guys are amazing. I feel truly blessed to be able to share a stage with 14 of the best musicians in the cities, who also happen to be really great people. Thank you.

My family: Dad. Thank you. You had as much to do with this album and this show as anyone, myself included. Thank you for raising me right, being there for mom, and supporting our family.
Katie. Thank you for supporting me no matter what. And for putting up with the late nights at the studio, rehearsals, shows, travel, etc for the last 7 years. I love you.
Steve, Nanc, Tom, Eric, Pete, Chris, Conrad, Kyle.
Thank you guys for supporting this project, and my music in general, from the jump. I couldn't have done it without you.

Everyone else who made this possible: The Cedar, Kathleen, Courtney and Becky at MOCA, Lauren Alford, Jake Heinitz, Jack Spencer, Mandy Lee, Bob and Marianne at MPR, Dave at Hymie's, Tom Horgen, Jon, Dave and Andrea at The Current, Ali, Jeremiah at, everyone at Lionsgate Academy, everyone that came to the show, bought a copy of the record, donated to the project, or told a friend about the record.

Thank you all for being a part of one of the best days of my life.
Hopefully we can do this again some time.

  1. I was so glad I was able to be present for this extraordinary event. I went because I'm the director of MOCA, but I'm also a mother. I couldn't help but think that every mother's wish is that her child will discover their gifts and figure out a way to share them with the world and that the world will appreciate them and shower them with love. All that happened Thursday night. For those of you who were weren't there, you can still do what Spencer suggested at the very end of the night: "If you like the music, you can buy it. If you have more money, give it to MOCA. If you have a Mom, give her a hug."
