When I was a kid, my Grandpa would always give me and my brother a gift on his birthday. It never made sense to me, but it was awesome.
Today would have been my mom's 63rd birthday, and as her gift to you all, I've made "For My Mother" available for FREE DOWNLOAD for the rest of the week.
All you have to do is head over to my Bandcamp page, and click the "buy now" button. If you feel like giving me some money, that's great. I'll pass it along to the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance. If you want to just download the album for free, that's great too. I hope you like it.

For My Mother (The Original Recordings)

I'm currently in the studio, getting ever closer to finishing this new Toki Wright | Big Cats record.
It's got me thinking about the last time I put together an album, and how different the process was.
I explained it in depth here, but I took a unique approach to writing and recording my last album, "For My Mother". I've tried to explain the process many times, but no explanation can be as thorough as hearing it for yourself.
I've uploaded the original demo, the live band recording, and the final version of "One" so you can hear the progression each of these songs went through. If there's interest, maybe I'll do this with more of the tracks.

Jerome Gordon-Jackson

On May 18th, around 2:30am, Jerome Gordon-Jackson was pulled over by Hennepin County Sheriff in Brooklyn Center on suspicion of DUI. He then allegedly jumped from the Hennepin avenue bridge (in downtown MPLS) around 4:30am. The events that took place between 2:30 and 4:30 are not clear.

Hennepin Co Sheriff showed up at his residence in Dayton, MN the next morning to speak with his sister.  They told her that Jerome had jumped from the Hennepin Ave Bridge. They also wanted to look over some of his belongings, and asked his sister if they could get access to his computer. They did not disclose that Jerome had been arrested that night.

His body has not been found, and his friends and family are still seeking answers. The sheriff's office and MPLS PD have not been forthcoming with details about the night's events. I'm asking for your help in getting the word out about this situation so his family can get the answers and closure they need. We are hoping to find anyone with more information about what happened that night.
